What is DIRC?
A quick and easy-to-use Web-based portal designed to help you find and share information, tools and programs about diabetes prevention and control.

What is in it for me?
Let’s say you represent a community organization and want to start a diabetes education program. You especially need simple tools in Spanish. DIRC is your first stop. Go to www.caldiabetes.org, enter Spanish in the Search field. All resources in Spanish will appear and you can browse for the materials you want, download them, copy them and get them to your community. By submitting your own Partner Profile and Resources, your organization becomes better known.

Register and Become a Content Contributor

1. Click Register on the left menu bar.
2. Answer four questions to see if you qualify.
3. Complete the brief form including a username and password.
4. Click on Process Registration.
5. You will receive an email confirming the activation of your Content Contributor account.

How do I submit a Partner Profile?

Partner Profiles are snapshots of organizations working to prevent or control diabetes. They include your organization’s contact information, mission statement, and a general description of your work. Categorize your organization according to the population you serve (race/ethnicity, age group, gender, and language). Once your organization has an active Partner Profile you can use the Event Calendar to provide on-line registration for your events.

Profile Submission Guidelines

Guidelines for Submitting Your Partner Profile
The purpose of the California Diabetes Program Web site is to provide useful, credible information to organizational partners doing work to reduce the burden of diabetes. It was with that intent that the California Diabetes Program developed the Diabetes Information Resource Center (DIRC), a tool on caldiabetes.org to link organizations to useful information provided by partners in both the private and public sectors. DIRC was designed to foster communication amongst partners to promote the sharing of educational resources in various languages (where appropriate) training opportunities, intervention models and data.

The California Diabetes Program does not accept responsibility for the accuracy of information entered by partner organizations into the DIRC database. While each profile will be reviewed prior to posting, the Diabetes Program will not edit or correct typos or errors. The Diabetes Program reserves the right to reject or remove any profile, at any time without explanation. Incomplete profiles will automatically be rejected. The California Diabetes Program will only accept partner profiles for submission to DIRC from an organization whose work is related to prevention and control of diabetes and is based or has a significant presence in California. For organizations who meet this criteria the following guidelines should be used in developing your DIRC Partner Profile:

• Use simple and direct language
• Enter key words so that visitors can search the database and find information easily
• Do not use acronyms
• Provide information useful for other organizations
• Do not include information that is outdated
• Provide contact information and a link to your organization’s Web site

The California Diabetes Program will NOT:

• Accept advertising
• Promote commercial, for-profit products
• Promote alternative medicines
• Promote cures for diabetes or other misinformation

Fees
The information provided on our Web site is provided free of charge to visitors. This Web site is funded in part with a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additional grants, sponsors, and in-kind donations are essential to maintaining this Web site and keeping all resources current and reliable.
